Training and Experience
I have much experience working with children of all ages, going back to 1975. I have worked as a teacher, school counselor, and private practice Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). In 2009, I started a private counseling practice called Parenting & Child Conduct Counseling, which focuses on behavior problems. I am also proud to have earned the clinician certification in KPMT (Parent Management Training-Kazdin Method) from the prestigious Yale Parenting Center.
I have taken several courses in the field of mental health to continue my education. I completed Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) at the Missouri Institute of Mental Health. I have also taken courses through the Beck Institute, including Essentials of CBT, CBT for Depression, CBT for Anxiety, and CBT for ADHD and Behavioral Issues in Youth. These courses teach practical therapeutic approaches based on scientific research. It is essential to continue learning about the latest techniques and research to provide the best treatment to clients.
I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others and have spoken at conferences and workshops. I especially enjoy helping new counselors who are starting their careers. If you are interested in counseling youth and would like my guidance, please get in touch with me for supervision.
When I'm not working, I love spending time with my family. I have two grown children and six grandchildren.
