Anxiety Parent Training Resources

Anxiety is a common and normal part of child development, but it can become problematic if it interferes with a child's daily life. The following resources offer valuable information for parents to identify, understand, and help their children manage anxiety. These resources include books, articles, and online resources that can help you understand your child's anxiety and support them in overcoming it.

By referring to these resources, parents can gain insight into the root causes of anxiety, the symptoms that may signal its presence, and the various strategies that can be used to manage and alleviate it. Parents can also learn how to promote resilience and foster positive mental health in children.

These resources provide an essential foundation for parents to support emotional well-being and child mental health.

SPACE Therapy

Eli Lebowitz

Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) therapy is a treatment developed by Dr. Eli Lebowitz for children with anxiety disorders and their parents. The therapy is designed to help families understand and manage the child's anxiety and to improve the parent-child relationship.

SPACE therapy is based on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and is intended to help children improve their emotional regulation, communication skills, and relationships with family members.

The therapy typically involves weekly family meetings, where parents and children work together to develop coping strategies and problem-solve difficult situations. Parents are also provided with guidance and support to help them understand and manage their child's anxiety and to improve their parenting skills.

The therapy is typically delivered in a group format but can also be delivered in individual sessions.
